Maxxeus Dental

Implant Dentistry – Biomaterials / Regenerative

Where do YOUR bone products come from?

Implant clinicians spend a considerable amount of time selecting the right implant – and rightfully so! The same consideration, if not more, should go into bone graft material. After all, you are transplanting another human’s tissue into your patient. Not all bone products, safety standards, and processing are created equal.

Maxxeus is the main distributor for Solvita, a not-for-profit tissue bank located in Dayton, Ohio. Solvita has one of the most advanced facilities in the world, devoted exclusively to the research, production and distribution of allografts. Solvita distributes over 1 Million tissue grafts each year – the largest in the world!

Dr. Liang (Director of Canadian Dental Implant Training Centre & the AAID Vancouver MaxiCourse) and many of our surgical mentors at the Vancouver MaxiCourse have used Maxxeus products for some time. Typical office and educational program inventory includes the following:

BONE PRODUCTS

ALLOGRAFT BONE

Allograft Corticocancellous Bone – used for almost all grafting we do, with the exception of sinus grafting where cancellous bone graft material is preferred.
Our preference is 0.25-1.00 mm size

The blend of cortical and cancellous that results from this process gives this product the structure of cortical, with the open scaffolding for bone to grow into that is offered by cancellous.

XENOGRAFT BONE

Maxxeus Xenograft Particulates are a natural hydroxyapatite bone grafting material. The highly purified osteoconductive material is produced from natural bovine bone through a multi-step purification process. Due to its natural origin, it is chemically as well as structurally, comparable to mineralized human bone

Packaged in jars or syringes. 0.25-1.00mm or 1.00-2.00mm particulate sizing, ranging from 0.25g to 2.0g

MEMBRANES

Collagen Membranes [porcine]

  • MaxxMem+ with 3-4 month resorption
  • MaxxMem with 4-6 month resorption
  • MaxxDerm with 6-9 month resorption
  • MaxxDerm+ with 9-12 month resorption

Pericardium Resorbable Allograft Membrane

A high cohesion and elasticity membrane, as derived from the strong membrane that surrounds and protects the human heart. It functions as a thin, pliable membrane that protects the grafted area without causing tension.

A barrier membrane that is more resilient than xenograft collagen membranes when exposed [when primary closure isn’t assured or sutures may open]; also produces a lower inflammatory response.

Thin and flexible, yet strong enough to suture or tack with minimal memory. Pericardium will contour to the ridge or grafting site.

Easy to manipulate after proper rehydration, and priced far better than xenograft collagen membrane as well.

BioXclude

A minimally manipulated dehydrated human deepithelialized amnion-chorion membrane. BioXclude® serves as a barrier, conduit, connector or cushion, is thin and adaptable with no trimming necessary.

Place dry. This membrane will resorb fully in 8-12 weeks.
Primary closure is unnecessary with this membrane

Laminar Bone

A highly flexible bone membrane made from thin sheets of cortical bone. Will flex without breaking and conform to the graft site without memory.
Works well in tandem with BioXclude, placed underneath the BioXclude membrane

Laminar Bone may be used to replace a buccal wall in an augmentation procedure, as well as any craniomaxillofacial procedures where a flexible yet mechanically strong membrane is desired.

These allografts are perfect for procedures where a membrane with rigidity is required, in order to maintain space and allow healing of a larger defect. Common use case is buccal wall defect.

Advantages
  • Available in 3 convenient sizes
  • Can be tacked in place with screws or pins
